Akhaj is a village in Mehsana District in the state of Gujarat. It is situated 12 km from Mehsana city on South direction. Akhaj is a marginal field situated in between south east of Sobhasan field and north of Langhnaj field of North Cambay Basin. The field is multilayer. Commercial oil-bearing capacity was identified in Mandhali Pay (MP-IIA, blocks W-1,2, W3, MP-IIIA, MP-IIIB, MP-IV (MP-IIA, block W3, and MP-IV)), Chhatral Pay.

BVOEL awarded with this field under the PEC – III agreement with ONGC. BVOEL has plans to improve the field oil and gas production by implementing various field and reservoir development activities. These might include 3D seismic evaluation and interpretation, drilling, well stimulation techniques, hydraulic fracturing.
